For Parents

Quran and Islamic Classes for Children

A guide for parents: where your child should start, who teaches children, and what classes cost for one child or several.

A young child in an online Quran class with a teacher

Your child learns live on Zoom with one teacher, from about age 4, at days and times you choose. The first class is a free 30-minute trial, and at the end of it the teacher tells you where your child should start.

Choosing a Course

Noorani Qaida or Quran for Kids?

For a child who cannot read yet, both start at the first letter. The difference is how far the course goes.

  • Noorani Qaida

    Ages
From about 4, and adults too
    Starts from
    The first letter
    Covers
The 28 letters, the vowel marks and joining, up to reading whole words from the Quran
    Leads to
A guided move into reading the Quran, and a certificate when the Qaida is completed
    Choose it if
You want the reading basics finished first, or an older child still needs the letters
  • Quran for Kids

    Ages
    4 to 14
    Starts from
Wherever your child is, the first letter included
    Covers
The Qaida for young beginners, then reading the Quran with Tajweed and learning short surahs
    Leads to
Fluent recitation for older children, and a path to Hifz
    Choose it if
You want one course that carries on from the letters into the Quran

Still unsure? Choose "Not sure, help me choose" on the trial form, and the teacher recommends one after hearing your child. Children who already read well can go on to Tajweed, to Hifz (from about age 7, for fluent readers) or to Islamic Studies alongside.

Teachers

Some of the Teachers Who Teach Children

All three teach children and beginners, and each profile lists their real qualifications.

Here are some of our teachers. We match each student with a suitable teacher, so the teacher you are matched with may not be one of those shown.

After You Start

Hearing How Your Child Is Doing

Ask whenever you like, and the teacher answers through the academy: where your child is up to and what they are working on. There is no automatic weekly report. It is a conversation with the person who teaches your child.

Usually the same teacher continues after the trial, so they get to know your child. If the teacher cannot take a class, another teacher takes it or it is made up later.

If you ever want a change of teacher, ask us. Changing teacher is free. Tell us the reason, and we aim to have the new teacher ready for the next class.

Cost

What It Costs for One Child, or Several

FAQ

Questions Parents Ask

Is my child old enough to start?

From about 4. Noorani Qaida and Quran for Kids both take children from that age, but being able to sit and listen to a teacher matters more than the exact birthday. The free trial shows you quickly whether your child is ready.

My child is shy with new people. Will that get in the way?

Shyness is common, and a class of one helps with it. There are no classmates to read in front of, and the teacher goes at whatever pace your child is comfortable with. Sitting beside a young child in the trial helps too.

Can classes fit around school and weekend activities?

Yes. Classes run 7 days a week and you choose the days and times, for example straight after school or on a weekend morning, and we match a teacher who is free then. When the clocks change, the class stays at the same local time for you and the teacher adjusts.

I have more than one child. How does booking work?

Each child has their own classes with the teacher and their own free trial, because each starts at a different level. Tell us the days and times that suit the family, and we look for teachers who are free then. Brothers and sisters get a sibling discount.

What if my child loses interest after a few weeks?

Tell us first, because a different time of day or a change of teacher sometimes solves it. If you decide to stop, give us 7 days' notice before your next bill, and any unused classes in a paid package are refunded.
