What Is the Quran for Adults Course?
Yes, you can learn to read the Quran as an adult, even from the first letter. Quran for Adults is a private course for grown-up learners. Who It Is For
Wherever Your Reading Is Now
No prior knowledge is needed. If you cannot read Arabic at all, the course begins with the Noorani Qaida; if you can, that stage is skipped.
This course is for you if
- You never learned to read the Quran as a child
- You read, but slowly, and you are not sure it is correct
- You learned as a child and have forgotten much of it after years away
- You want to be sure that what you recite in salah is right
Another course may suit better if
- You read well and want to study the rules in depth: Tajweed
- You are new to Islam and want the prayer first: Quran for Reverts
- You already read and want to understand the Arabic: Arabic Language
Starting Later in Life
Learning as an Adult Is Different
It is common to feel you should have learned this as a child. The class is private: just you and the teacher.
The teacher sets the pace with you. If a sound takes three classes to get right, it takes three classes. You can ask why a rule works the way it does, and ask again.
Seniors are welcome. Classes run on Zoom on a phone, tablet or computer, and the teacher goes as slowly as you need.
What You Work On
Where the Course Goes
This is the order the course follows. Salah and common duas are part of it, and the teacher decides with you when to bring them in.
Level check in the free trial
The teacher hears what you can read and sets your starting point.
Noorani Qaida if starting from zero
Letters, sounds and vowel marks at an adult pace. Skipped if you can already read.
Quran reading with Tajweed from the start
Connected reading from the mushaf, with the rules applied as you go rather than learned separately.
Salah recitation and common duas with meaning
Everything you say in prayer, checked word by word, with what it means.
Selected surahs with translation
Surahs you recite often, read with their meaning.
In the Class
How an Adult Class Runs
Classes are 30 or 60 minutes. A longer class leaves room for reading and salah work in the same session.
Reading
You read from where you stopped last time, and the teacher corrects your pronunciation as you go.
One point to fix
The teacher picks the mistake that matters most, explains it and has you practise it in context.
Salah and duas
Some classes give time to the words of your prayer and duas, until you are sure of each one.
What to practise
You leave knowing what to go over before the next class.

Our female teachers are shown with one shared illustration, by the academy's choice, because several prefer not to show their faces. It is not a photo of any teacher.
You can ask for a female teacher, and we can arrange one at most times. Read about learning with a female teacher.
Every teacher holds a recognised Quran qualification. Before a teacher joins, we check their original certificates, hear them recite, watch a demo class and check ID and references.
Scheduling
Fitting Classes Around Work
Choose the half hour you can actually sit down for: before work, a lunch break, or after the children are asleep. Because the teachers keep to your local clock, an early or late slot is a normal request rather than a favour.
Two classes a week is a steady start for most working weeks. After the trial the teacher will say what pace suits your reading.
- You choose the days and times
- Classes run 7 days a week. You tell us the days and times that suit you, and we match a teacher who is free then.
- Confirmed in your own time zone
- Your class time is agreed in your local time. The class stays at the same local time for the family. The teacher adjusts. See class times where you live.
- Moving a class
- Let us know at least 4 hours before and the class is moved and made up, with no limit on makeups. Missed without notice? The class counts, because the teacher waited.
- Weekends
- Saturday and Sunday classes are available. There is a small extra per weekend class, listed on the Pricing page.

Questions About Quran for Adults
No. Adults of every age learn to read, seniors included. The class goes at your pace, with no classmates to keep up with.
It lasts 30 minutes. The teacher asks what you want to achieve, hears what you can read or starts you on the first letters, and recommends a course and how many classes a week. We send that plan on WhatsApp afterwards, with no pressure to continue.
This course teaches you to read with Tajweed applied as you go, plus salah, duas and selected surahs with meaning. The Tajweed course is for people who already read and want to study the rules in depth.
Tell the teacher in the trial. Salah and common duas are part of the course, and the teacher decides with you when to bring them in.
It depends on your starting point, how many classes a week you take and how much you read between them. We do not promise a set time; the teacher can give you an estimate once they have heard you.
You learn the meaning of your salah, common duas and the surahs you study, using translation. Understanding the Arabic language itself is taught in the Arabic Language course.
