For Adults

Choosing a Quran Course as an Adult

Read for the first time, fix recitation you know is weak, or come back after years away, in private classes arranged around your working week.

An adult learner in a private online Quran class

Adults usually arrive with one clear goal: to read for the first time, to correct recitation, to return after years away, to memorise, or to understand the Arabic. Start from the goal, and the course follows.

Choose by Goal

Which Course Fits What You Want?

  • I never learned to read the Quran

Quran for Adults. When you start from zero it begins with the Noorani Qaida, so it is one booking and you start at the letters.

  • I can read, but slowly or with mistakes I know are there

Quran for Adults builds fluency, with Tajweed applied as you read. If you already read fluently and want the rules themselves, choose Tajweed.

  • I learned as a child and have been away for years

Book the trial and let the teacher hear you read. Some returners need the letters refreshed, others pick up close to where they stopped. Either way it is Quran for Adults.

  • I want to memorise

Hifz, once you read fluently with basic Tajweed. It runs as Hifz Intensive: 5 classes a week of 45 minutes.

  • I want to understand what I recite

Arabic Language, for Quranic grammar and vocabulary. You need to read Arabic script first.

  • I want to learn the faith properly

Islamic Studies: belief, the pillars in practice, basic Fiqh and the Seerah, often alongside a Quran course.

  • I am new to Islam

Start with the guide for new Muslims, which puts prayer first.

Not sure which describes you? Choose "Not sure, help me choose" on the trial form, and the teacher places you.

Fitting It In

Classes Around a Working Week

You name the times, and we find the teacher. Say Tuesday and Thursday evenings after 8pm are the only times you can manage. Tell us that, we match a teacher who is free then, and that is the Foundation package: 8 classes, two a week. Classes are 30 or 60 minutes and run 7 days a week, so weekends are possible too.

Work trips and late meetings happen. Move a class at least 4 hours before it starts and it is made up later, with no limit on make-ups. You are billed per package when its classes are used, not on a fixed date each month, and to stop you give 7 days' notice before the next bill. Unused classes are refunded.

Teachers

Teachers Who Work With Adults

Ustadh Omar and Ustadha Sumaiya both teach adults who are starting late or returning after a long break. Ustadh Ibrahim works with adults who already read and want accuracy.

Here are some of our teachers. We match each student with a suitable teacher, so the teacher you are matched with may not be one of those shown.

FAQ

Questions Adults Ask

Am I too old to start?

No. Quran for Adults is for adults of every age, seniors included, and each class is private, so there is no group pace to keep up with. Starting at the first letter as an adult is completely normal here.

I feel embarrassed about my level. Does that matter?

It is a common feeling, and a private class removes the audience it depends on. It is just you and the teacher, and mistakes are exactly what the class is for.

Can I have classes in my lunch break or late in the evening?

Often, yes. Give us the exact window, for example weekdays 12:30 to 1pm, and we look for a teacher who is free then. We confirm the time and the teacher with you on WhatsApp before the trial, rather than promising a slot on this page.

Can my husband or wife learn as well?

Yes, with their own classes and their own free trial. Because each class is private, the two of you can be at completely different levels and book different times.

Will the teacher explain things in English?

All our teachers speak English (and Urdu; several also Arabic or Pashto), as listed on each profile on the teachers page. Lessons are taught in English.
