Overview
What Is the Quran for Reverts Course?
This course is for people who have recently accepted Islam, and for reverts who have relied on transliteration. It starts with what you say and do every day and teaches the Arabic letters alongside, so reading grows out of the prayers you already know. Every Arabic term is explained in plain words, and nothing is assumed about your background.

Your First Weeks
What the First Classes Cover, in Order
This is the order the course follows. How quickly you move through it is up to you and your teacher.
Shahada and Kalima with correct pronunciation
The declaration of faith, said correctly and understood.
Wudu
The washing before prayer, step by step and in the right order.
Al Fatiha and the words of salah, with meaning
Every phrase of the prayer, recited correctly, with what it means.
Short surahs for prayer
A few short surahs, memorised and understood, so you can pray with them.
Arabic letters and Quran reading alongside
The letters are taught next to the prayer work, so you can move off transliteration.
Transliteration
If You Have Been Praying From Transliteration
That is how many reverts begin, and there is nothing to be embarrassed about. Transliteration gets you started, but English letters cannot show every Arabic sound, so some words come out differently from how they are said.
The teacher listens to what you already recite and corrects it word by word. At the same time you learn the Arabic letters, so in time you read the words as they are written rather than a spelling of them.
The Free Trial
Your First Class
30 minutes, just you and a teacher.
A conversation first
The teacher asks what you already know, what you recite now, and what you most want to learn.
A first lesson
It might be Al Fatiha, part of the salah or the first letters, depending on you.
A plan
The teacher suggests how many classes a week would suit you, and we send the plan on WhatsApp. There is no pressure to continue.
In the Class
Ask Anything, at Your Pace
The class is just you and the teacher, so you can ask about anything you find confusing, as often as you need. Each Arabic word or term is explained before you are asked to use it.
What you need for prayer comes first. Belief, the life of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and fiqh are covered more fully in Islamic Studies, which you can take alongside.

Our female teachers are shown with one shared illustration, by the academy's choice, because several prefer not to show their faces. It is not a photo of any teacher.
You can ask for a female teacher, and we can arrange one at most times. Read about learning with a female teacher.
Every teacher holds a recognised Quran qualification. Before a teacher joins, we check their original certificates, hear them recite, watch a demo class and check ID and references.
Scheduling
Starting With a Time You Can Keep
Begin with the slot you can protect every week, even if that is only twice. The early classes are short and practical, so they fit into an evening without much preparation.
As your week settles you can ask for a different day or hour. Nothing is fixed for the whole package.
- You choose the days and times
- Classes run 7 days a week. You tell us the days and times that suit you, and we match a teacher who is free then.
- Confirmed in your own time zone
- Your class time is agreed in your local time. The class stays at the same local time for the family. The teacher adjusts. See class times where you live.
- Moving a class
- Let us know at least 4 hours before and the class is moved and made up, with no limit on makeups. Missed without notice? The class counts, because the teacher waited.
- Weekends
- Saturday and Sunday classes are available. There is a small extra per weekend class, listed on the Pricing page.

Yes, it is for teenagers as well as adults. For younger children, Quran for Kids is the better fit.
It depends on how many classes you take and how much you practise, so we do not give a figure. Salah is the first thing the course covers, and the teacher will tell you how you are getting on whenever you ask.
